Impartial Advice on Booking Wedding Reception Entertainment

Weddings are very expensive, sometimes running into many thousands. Part of this cost includes your entertainment and the venue for your reception. The impartial advice below may help you reduce your entertainment cost.
  • Hotels can charge anything from £400 upwards for your DJ
  • The DJ may only receive as little as £80 to £100
  • The DJ may be the hotels bar man, or a DJ provided by a contractor
  • As such, to the DJ your entertainment is a regular event, with probably little consideration for uniqueness or details
  • If your hotel insists that you use their DJ, you can decline, advising that you will take your business elsewhere
  • It is extremely unlikely that the hotel will insist if you take this stance
  • You are then free to engage a reputable DJ which you have chosen
  • This is very likely to result in less cost to you, and perhaps more importantly, you will receive the entertainment you want
A good DJ will ensure you and your guests really enjoy your day, playing the music you want to hear. Your DJ has to work for sometimes anything up to 8 hours entertaining you and your guests; therefore your choice of DJ is very important. You are more likely to get a good DJ, who will turn up, if you engage a reputable entertainment provider/DJ, under a written contract between you both. Only then can you be assured that you will have control over your entertainment, with your choice of music, and it should cost less than it would if you had used the Hotels DJ.

It is also a common mistake that the choice of DJ is usually based on the cheapest price. This frequently ends in disaster, with little or no choice of music, bad sound quality, poor lighting, or even worse, no DJ at all. Only when you have a contract with a reputable DJ/Provider, are you assured of their attendance.
